My first introduction to computers was in college using punch cards. A Hanging Chad was not welcome back then, too. I served in the United States Navy for four years. I was an Operation Specialist. I worked with computerized radar in CIC, Combat Information Center. All of the equipment was linked to other ships, submarines, and aircraft. We were the first networked combat system in the world. After I got out of the Navy and started teaching, I wrote a small book, A Line in the Sand. It was about the lives of a French family and an English Family and my interaction with them while the scud missiles were exploding around them during the first Persian Gulf War. I still remember how the children would hide in their bathtubs for safety. I communicated with them in the early years of the Internet using BBS, Bulletin Board Services. I have done a state presentation for educators in Columbus, Ohio and a national presentation for educators in Dallas, Texas on computer animation using HyperCard during the early days of the personal computer. The movie was a Star Trek movie. I have done many personal one-on-one and one-on-a-small-group in homes from Ohio and Florida. I have even taught a ninety-four year old senior to use an iPad. And I can teach you what you want to learn. Is it the Windows or Apple Operating System? Is it an application (program) on your computer? Is it your new iPhone, iPad, or iOS devise? Are you new to interacting with computers or devices on the Internet? Whatever it is, if you want to learn, I can teach you. I hope to hear from you today. And never stop learning!
